
RULES, Terms and Conditions:
1.) ONLY chalk and non oil based soft pastels may be used.
2.) All participants must supply their own materials.
3.) No stencils will be permitted.
4.) A border of up to six inches may me added around a design to enhance its presence on the sidewalk. The border should be a true border and not an extension of the design. The design can not exceed the designated size of the art space which is 28" X 22" unless additional art space is purchased and grouped together. If a competitor purchases additional blocks of art space to be grouped together the border will still be limited to a 6" band on the perimeter around the entire design. Judges will only focus on the actual designs not the borders around a design.
5.) In the event of inclimate weather contestants will be provided with paper and moved to an indoor location to compete. The paper provided may not have space for any borders.
6.) Only Corporate, Sponsorship & Benefactor Entrants may show logos and promote a specific product, service or brand with their design.
7.) Images created during this competition will be photographed and used for marketing purposes and must abide by U.S. Copyright Laws.
8.) All competitors, entrants and assistants must sign a liability waiver and photo release form for both the artwork created on site and to release rights to use their image to participate.
9.) Although we realize creativity takes many forms this is a family oriented event. No profanity, violence, sexually charged or explicit, racially divisive, or anti religious themes will be allowed.
10.) Concentric Productions, Inc., The Concentric Arts Educational Fund, Inc. and The Landing reserve the right to reject and remove any images that they find to be offensive or distasteful. Any contestant who has his/her design removed will be automatically disqualified and may be banned from future participation. If you have any concerns regarding a design and its acceptance please contact Concentric Productions, Inc. 904 612 8491 to discuss your design in advance of the competition.
11.) Un sportsmanship like behavior will result in disqualification.
12.) Any and all taxes that may be assessed in regard to prizes or prize money is the sole responsibility of the recipient/winner.
13.) Winners of gift cards will please note that unfortunately some gift card companies have built in expiration dates and some gift cards may charge a monthly fee for the balance on the card. All winners of gift cards will be supplied with full card details at the time of the award. Concentric Arts Educational Fund, Inc., Concentric Productions, Inc. and The Landing assume no responsibility or liability for any Terms and Conditions regarding any prizes issued especially those in the form of Visa, gift cards or travel related prizes.
14.) Students who win Scholarships in the form of CD's and U.S. Savings Bonds must have a parent or legal guardian present and supply their social security card to have the Bonds and CD's issued in their name. There are also optional tax incentives available for some types of Bonds. Winners will be informed of Bond and CD requirements and benefits by a volunteer Certified Financial Planner who will offer suggestions for the best options on a case by case basis.
15.) Concentric Productions, Inc. and The Concentric Arts Educational Fund, Inc. are not responsible for lost or stolen awards and will not retain copies of bonds, gift card receipts or other financial records. It is the sole responsibility of the winner/recipients to make copies and keep records of their awards.
16.) Concentric Productions, Inc. and The Concentric Arts Educational Fund, Inc. respect privacy and will never supply any information provided by event entrants/competitors to anyone. Requests for removal from our e-mail list as well as, requests for omission from any marketing geared mailings that we may send for future events will be honored promptly.
17.) Concentric Productions, Inc., The Concentric Arts Educational Fund, Inc., and The Landing are not responsible for any persons or their belongings during this event. Please make sure you secure your possessions in a safe place while concentrating on your artwork.
18.) All fees must be paid in full at time of registration. Registration is first come, first served. Space is limited.
19.) No refunds or exchanges will be issued. Notice of cancellation will be appreciated. Competitors/Entrants must Check In by 10:00 am the morning of the contest to participate. A no show after 10:00 am on contest day. will be deemed a cancellation and the space may be assigned to a new Competitor/Entrant with out any recourse.
20.) Additional adjoining spaces may be available for purchase in some locations. Space rates will be discounted by half. If you are interested in acquiring additional space, please indicate this at time of registration. Please note, adding additional space will not affect judging.
21.) Students and Individual Entrants/Competitors may not receive assistance with their artwork from anyone. They are expected to work solo.
22.) Student and Open Entry individual pledge sponsors must be individual people. Churches, Companies, Clubs etc... may not be listed as individual pledge sponsors. These groups are encouraged to either enter in the respective category as an entrant/contestant or participate as a Benefactor.
23.) Winners of the Group Classifications must choose a sole recipient. Concentric Arts Educational Fund, Inc. is not responsible for disbursing prizes among group winners.
24.) Prizes stated may be amended as Sponsors and Benefactors add promotional items and gifts to be awarded in conjunction with Stated Scholarships and Cash Prizes. Categories may be combined pending low participation of less than 10 entrants in each category. Amounts of Stated prizes will not change, however in order to ensure that all winners receive their prizes, the method of payment (US Savings Bond, CD, Gift Card or Cash) may be changed to accommodate extreme or unusual circumstances if such a case should arise.
25.) The number of available spaces is subject to change without notice.
26.) You do NOT have to present at the awards ceremony to win. However we would appreciate being able to publicly honor winners.
27.) Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
28.) Any abuse of the open pledging system will result in disqualification from the competition but may also also result in criminal prosecution if sufficient evidence exists to support a charge. Pledges are given in good faith and are to be used exclusively for registration reimbursement and supplies.
29.) Only registered competitors will be eligible to win awards.
The Downtown Sidewalk Chalk Contest is produced by Concentric Productions, Inc. Scholarships and Awards to be issued through the Florida registered nonprofit organization Concentric Arts Educational Fund Inc.

JUDGING
Judging in 2009 was done by a panel of three non partisan and independent judges and by public vote. We were honored to have Aisling Millar, Museum Educator from M.O.C.A, Martha McManus The Education Programs Director for The Cultural Council Of Greater Jacksonville and Craig Erskine, The Executive Director of The Art League of Jacksonville to sign on and judge our event!
IN 2010 THE PUBLIC VOTED FAVORITE WILL BE AWARDED A SEPARATE PRIZE. It was determined that the public vote was a good idea but should not influence the overall outcome of the contest.
